Grilled Pear and Gingerbread Trifles

Pears and gingerbread make a festive holiday flavor combination in this easy and elegant dessert.

cored and cut into 1/2-inch thick slices
2 pears
butter, melted
4 tsp
brown sugar
4 tsp
lime juice
4 tsp
each ground cinnamon and ginger
1/4 tsp
thick slices gingerbread (1-inch thick slices)

35% heavy cream
1 cup
icing sugar, sifted
2 tbsp
vanilla extract
1 tsp
caramel sauce
1/4 cup
chopped pecans
1/4 cup

Add 1 cup water to drip tray of Frontier Portable Grill. Preheat grill for 6 to 8 minutes on medium.

Toss together pears, butter, brown sugar, lime juice, cinnamon and ginger. Place on grill; cover and grill for 1 to 2 minutes per side or until well marked and tender.

Meanwhile, place gingerbread slices on grill. Cover and grill for 2 to 3 minutes per side or until lightly toasted. Chop pears and cut gingerbread into cubes; set aside.

Using electric mixer, whip cream until stiff peaks form. Beat in icing sugar and vanilla.

Layer half of the pears, gingerbread and whipped cream in 4 glass serving dishes. Repeat layers. Drizzle with caramel sauce and top with pecans.

TIP

Substitute apples for pears if desired.
