The SilKEN® 2 Induction Cooktop by Kenyon, won a prestigious design award at the Marine Equipment Trade Show (METS) in Amsterdam. The SilKEN® 2 won first place in the category of Interior Equipment, Furnishing, Materials and Electrical Fittings used in Cabins.
An international jury of renowned naval architects awarded the SilKEN® 2 and noted that “Kenyon has brought a sophisticated and aesthetically pleasing touch control induction cooktop into the marine world”. Special praise was given to the cooktops clever power and heat management as well as the high temperature cooking grade silicone mat that provides a high grip surface for pans when in use, stops the cooktops from getting scratched and is easy to clean following food preparation.
The SilKEN® 2 cooktop was 1 of only 6 products in a filed of 116 product entries from 23 countries that were recognized by the design jury. Kenyon’s president Phil Williams says the DAME is “the highest award for design you can win in the marine industry”.
Dear Cook With Kenyon,
I used the grill last night…..fantastic.  Kenyon has done a fantastic job in construction and design.  The steak was every bit as good, if not better, than if cooked on a traditional grill.
All the best,
Paul
We are very excited and honored to announce that we have won the 2014 IBEX Innovation Award for our new SilKEN Grill Lid! Â Coming in the Spring of 2015, this collapsable lid will help solve the issues of saving space while on board without sacrificing the benefit of a lid on your grill!

Outside Magazine reviewed our City Grill which allows city and apartment dwellers the capability to easily grill.
Lumbersexuals, take note: Cooking at a tiny Brooklyn apartment just got easier thanks to Kenyon’s City Grill. This 24-pound electrical device is flame-free and portable, which means that you can legally cook your artisan meats practically anywhere.
The City Grill pre-heats food in seven minutes and is constructed from marine-grade stainless steel, making it fully rust-proof.
But the grill’s best feature? Its versatility for urbanites. The Kenyon City Grill has been designed to fit into a countertop cut-out, which means it can handle pancakes in the kitchen for breakfast and brats on the porch for dinner.

This year Kenyon offers an indoor electric grill that is ultimate gift for any grilling enthusiast. With the City Grill, delicious steaks and grilled chicken can be enjoyed year round as the portable appliance is able to be used outdoors and indoors while sitting on the kitchen counter as it is flameless and smokeless. The unit heats up to 600 degrees from edge to edge in just seven minutes and features a non-stick, dishwasher safe grate that gives the food characteristic grilling marks. This grill is a must-have for every grill enthusiast on your list.
We often get asked: why should I add water to the drip tray of my Kenyon grill? Well we know from our last post what typically causes smoke and flare-ups with electric grills, and since we have eliminated the possibility for smoke or flare-ups that way, we should be all set, right? Almost, we recommend adding liquid to the drip tray for two reasons, the first being if you do not add liquid and then heat up your grill, the hot drippings from the food can cause smoke when the drippings hit the hot (dry) tray below- so by adding liquid it acts as a buffer and you will not have any smoke!
Secondly, and most important, is that the liquid keeps your food juicy while cooking. Due to the proximity of the tray to the heating element, the liquid will get warm and some of it will evaporate, which creates steam and thus it will infuse into your food to add a kiss of flavor of whatever liquid you are using. Check out this video for some tips on which beverages go best with which foods!
The Secret to Efficient Electric Grills.
How are Kenyon Electric Grills smokeless and flare-up free? We’re glad you asked! First, we need to explain why smoke and flare-ups are caused on electric grills. In many cases, smoke is caused when the drippings from the food that is being cooked come in contact with the heating element. This can also cause flare-ups if the element is hot enough and the drippings are grease. Why would the drippings come in contact with the element? Many grills place the heating element up to 2 inches away from the actual grilling surface and are left exposed underneath. Our patented design places the heating element in a concealed channel on the bottom of the grilling surface.
With the element concealed in this channel, the drippings fall harmlessly into the removable drip tray underneath. For tips on getting the most out of your drip tray, click here. This placement not only removes the chance of drippings hitting the element and causing smoke or flare-ups, but it also provides for zero heat loss between the element and the grilling surface and therefore allows for more efficient grilling. By being in a channel underneath the grill “grate” as we call it, the grate receives completely even heat which can be entirely covered with food while still being cooked evenly. See image 3 below. This also has allowed us to manufacture the only grills available that are UL listed for indoor and outdoor use, so you can grill anywhere, anytime! Not only does our element placement differ from our competition, it serves as an advantage to achieving the best results, every time. To find the grill that suits you best, start here.

Living in an apartment that doesn’t allow smoky grills shouldn’t mean you can’t enjoy great grilled foods — and neither should the impending cold weather. With the Kenyon City Grill you can grill no matter your situation, whether it’s snowing outdoors, or you just live in a place without a porch or yard. Built from marine grade stainless steel, these grills will last a lifetime, fending off weather and rust.
