January 20th this year is National Cheese Lovers’ Day, and of course that was something worth marking in our calendar! There’s a reason grilled cheese is so popular – grills and cheese are a match made in heaven. Our last blog post was all about fresh, healthy foods, but the calorie-conscious should probably avert their eyes now because we sought out the most delicious and cheesy grilled food recipes for this list.
We understand that many people avoid putting overly-cheesy foods on the grill because of the mess it makes and the possibility of dangerous, food-ruining flare-ups if the cheese or any grease drips from the food. With a Kenyon All Seasons™ grill, there are absolutely no flare-ups and the grill plate or griddle are easily-removable and dishwasher-safe. No mess, virtually no cleanup, and no danger! You can even feel free to grill these cheesy masterpieces indoors. Visit our line of Kenyon Grills here.
We chose this first recipe because it is so versatile and it’s actually not too unhealthy. From OhSweetBasil.com comes these cheesy peppers:
While she uses queso fresco inside of mini sweet peppers, there are plenty of possibilities for this recipe. For peppers, we also recommend jalapenos, poblanos, and bell peppers. As far as the cheese goes, the sky is the limit (use whatever you have leftover in your fridge!), but we recommend trying a mix of goat cheese and cream cheese. If you like peppers on your cheeseburger, try making these ahead of time and using them as a burger topping instead.
This next recipe is from the guys at GrillinFool who are experts at creating great grilling combinations. This Cheesy Grilled Corn is fantastic, whether for a summer cookout or a side for an everyday dinner.
The best part is that it’s not any more difficult than grilling the corn and topping it with a few ingredients. If you know how to grill corn, you’re golden! If you don’t, don’t worry, it’s ridiculously easy.
The guys at Grillin’ Fool give their directions for grilling corn here.
Next up is an incredible chicken-burger creation posted by Missy T. on KeyIngredients.com, the “Grilled Cheesy Apple Pie Chicken Burger.” (A mouthful – both in speaking and eating!)
This recipe is far easier than it seems and has incredible depth of flavor with sharp cheddar cheese, chopped apples, and a small amount of cinnamon and nutmeg. To make it a ‘Cheese-Lovers celebration food,’ top with an extra slice of cheddar cheese. We recommend filling your Kenyon drip pan with apple juice in order to infuse even more of the great apple flavor into the burger.

Of course we couldn’t go through all our favorite cheesy recipes without including something with bacon. This pull-apart bread was created by the genius minds at Grillin’ Fool, (yep, same creators of the cheesy corn!) and we adore them for it.
The pull-apart bread is extremely easy to make. Just slice into a large, round loaf of bread (being careful not to cut all the way through), then load it up with cheddar cheese and shredded bacon, topping it with melted butter mixed with ranch dressing powder mix. The result is melty, delicious bits of bread that you can pull off and eat one-by-one. It’s great to share at a party! Or eat by yourself. We won’t judge.
The pull-apart bread begins wrapped in tinfoil in order to let everything melt and bake evenly, but finishing it on a Kenyon grill is the key for making this bread perfect.

Our final cheese recipe is extra-indulgent. Go big or go home, right? Nick at Dude Foods had a stroke of genius when he created this 100% cheese Grilled Cheese sandwich.
Yes, it literally is 100% cheese. Evidently, there is a product (in Wisconsin, at least) called “Bread Cheese” which is basically just cheese with a bread-like consistency. When Nick saw this, he knew what had to be done. This 100% grilled cheese is extremely simple to make- the only difficult part is in finding the bread cheese. For those of us who don’t live in Wisconsin, Halloumi cheese is another option that grills well without melting.

We’ve all heard the ‘New Year, New You’ line before… and most of us have tried to live up to it. If your New Year Resolution this year was to eat healthier or lose weight, you’re not alone. In fact, losing weight is America’s number one most popular New Year resolution in 2014.
To help facilitate your ‘New You’ ambitions (and ours!), we’ve sifted through hundreds of grill-ready recipes and picked out our favorites to share.
Why grilled foods? Grilling your proteins is a fantastic way to cut out unnecessary fats and oils while still adding great flavor. As an added tip, adding a juice or another beverage to your Kenyon grill drip pan is a great way to infuse flavors into your food without slathering on extra calories (for instance, we recommend apple juice with pork chops!)
Remember that the winter months are no excuse to stop grilling! Any of Kenyon’s smokeless, electric grills (like the Revolution or City Grill™) are safe to use indoors or out, making grilling in the winter easy and painless. Why should we wait for summer for amazing meals like these? Click the picture below to check out the amazing products we offer (don’t worry, it opens in a new window!)

5. One of the first diet foods that comes to mind for most of us is “salad” – or more specifically, “salad with grilled chicken and low-fat dressing.” Not exactly appetizing when it’s put like that. Part of the reason so many people dread living off of salad is that they haven’t perfected the art of making one! Salads can be incredibly versatile and tasty if you’re willing to put a teensy bit of thought and effort into them beforehand.
This recipe comes from MenuMusings and is only one of unlimited salad possibilities. We chose to feature this “Grilled Ginger-Sesame Chicken Salad” because it’s jam-packed with flavors to help hit all your sweet and salty cravings in one fell swoop. Unlike other recipes we feature, this one does take some prep time for marinating the chicken – but it’s completely worth it in the end.

4. There are thousands upon thousands of “grilled vegetable” recipes on the internet because there is no ‘right way’ to grill a vegetable. But we loved Rebecca Crump’s recipe at Ezra Pound Cake because of her fantastically simple (and delicious!) balsamic vinaigrette marinade.
Not a huge veggie fan? Grilling vegetables brings out the natural sugars and adds caramelization which changes the flavor completely. Give it a try!

3. From The Jolly Tomato we have something that’s more of a great healthy grilling idea than a recipe. Grilled Fruit! The concept and execution are simple- Slice up some fruit, throw it on a medium hot grill, and as soon as the grill marks appear, flip over.
Grilling fruit brings out the natural sweetness without having to add any extra sugars or additives. Whenever you’re craving something sweet, this is a great (maybe even tastier!) substitute for all of the bad-for-you desserts out there. For an extra dimension, try adding a little bit of fresh granola, honey, yogurt, or homemade whipped cream. Below are Gina Homolka’s grilled peaches, topped with honey and honey-flavored yogurt.
Some of the more popular fruits to grill are pineapples, bananas, and peaches – but feel free to get adventurous! There’s no messy risk involved if you’re using a Kenyon grill, where cleanup is only a dishwasher away.
This next recipe comes from Gina Homolka of skinnytaste.com and involves shrimp, avocados, and cheese… need we say more? These Shrimp Quesadillas with Tomato Avocado Salsa seem decadent, but weigh in at only about 300 calories for an entire quesadilla that is packed with nutrients and amazing flavors.
Gina recommends grilling the shrimp and quesadillas in a skillet, but using a Kenyon grill is a great way to infuse extra flavors into the shrimp and tortillas without having to use any oil or butter.

1. Our top pick for the best healthy grilled food this new year comes backed by scientific evidence of its health benefits. Salmon is high in protein, amino acids, Omega-3 fats (those are good!), tons of vitamins, and additional nutritional benefits are still being discovered. Being that salmon is also one of the staples of the grilling world, it’s no wonder that this recipe topped our list of healthy grilled foods.
There are infinite possibilities for preparing salmon on a grill. Sweet or salty, lemony or smokey, tons of different marinades, sides, and sauces to choose from… choosing just one recipe to highlight was difficult. The recipe we chose is great because it includes grilled asparagus on the side which compliments the flavor of the salmon while providing its own ‘superfood’ benefits (it actually used to be used as medication for arthritis because its inflammatory properties are so great!)
Martha Stewart’s recipe for Grilled Salmon Steaks with Mustard Sauce and Asparagus is top-notch and takes minimal prep with only a handful of ingredients.

A carcinogen, according to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, “is a substance or agent that causes cancer.” Some people have a genetic tendency to develop cancer when exposed to a specific carcinogen or combination of carcinogens.
A carcinogen affects the body in the most basic level; it can act on the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), which causes aberrations, or mutations that can lead to an abnormal increase in the growth of cells. Mutations like these can lead to tumors by causing human cells to grow uncontrollably. Other carcinogens don’t necessarily cause a mutation but can cause cells to divide too quickly which then leads to a mutation.
Grilling proteins such as meat and fish forms two kinds of chemical compounds that may contribute to cancer: heterocyclic amines (HCAs) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). HCAs, or the carcinogens most commonly found in cigarette smoke, can develop in meat when cooked at high temperatures. Although Frying and broiling can also lead to the creation of HCAs, charring on a grill induces the chemical in its strongest form. PAHs are formed when juices from the meat drips onto the coals or other hot surfaces and create smoke. The smoke then accumulates on the surface of the meat as it surrounds the food in the grilling process.
With the Kenyon Grill you never have to worry about carcinogens damaging your grass fed beef, wild caught fish, or free-range chicken because there is no smoke created while using the grill. The design of the grill ensures that the juices from the meat will not cause a flare up or create smoke due to the hidden electric element that sits underneath the grilling surface. Why spend all that money on getting the healthiest foods just to cut it short with the affects of carcinogens? With a Kenyon grill you will get the most flavor, tenderness and healthy food you expect from your grilling experience.

“My results on my first grill with the Kenyon Floridian, a New York Steak, was simply fantastic. Following the simple steps outlined above, I was able to grill this New York steak with perfect grill marks, to a delicious medium.
Cleanup was a snap as the grate easily fit into my sink to clean with just soap and water.
According to Kenyon the grate and dome lid are dishwasher safe.
I will note that the Kenyon grill comes with a sample bottle of stainless steel cleaner – nice touch!”
“I was curious to see if the Kenyon Floridian could handle roasting a Turkey breast … and it could! I was able to cook to a perfect juicy 165F with a delicious crunchy skin. There were no leftover after my boys finished eating this Turkey Breast…
And again, cleanup was simple and easy.”

We recently downsized from suburbia to a condo in town. At first, the rule against gas grills was almost a deal breaker as I’ve been a loyal user of Ducane gas grills for over 25 years. I read every review about every electric grill I could find before decided on Kenyon. My wife thought it was very pricey, but it was important to get the right grill. Now, I can sum up a Kenyon grill in one word: AMAZING! I don’t miss my gas grill at all and suspect my new neighbors will be Kenyon customers soon.

In sending my butane stove in to be estimated for repair, I absolutely cannot believe the honesty and customer support I received for my 2003 vintage stove. You not only fixed it for free and sent it back to me with no shipping charges…….what’s with that????? No company devotes itself to this kind of ultimate customer satisfaction. If word of mouth means anything, till I pass, I will solidly support and honor you folks as the most amazing top 5 companies in the USA.
Outstanding!!!!!!!!!
Regards and Thank You Very Much!
