The much anticipated summer season has finally arrived and outdoor grilling is in full effect! Celebrate the long, warm days of summer by hosting the ultimate BBQ for your friends and family this 4th of July. Wow your guests with these party tips and summer staples for your most successful cookout yet.

It’s a Party in the USA

Sunshine with a breeze are the desired conditions for any BBQ, however the weather doesn’t always work out in our favor. Make sure to plan for rain or shine and have an indoor setup ready to go. The party won’t stop because of bad weather; your Kenyon Electric Grill can be used both inside and outside.

Invite friends and family and even the neighbors to make it an all out American celebration! Good company, good conversation and great food are the most important ingredients to an unforgettable event.

Red, White, and Boozed

Ice-cold beer and wine are a must for the occasion. Easy to grab and pour with little mess or fuss. Add these beverages that you’ll already have on hand to your grill’s drip tray to infuse a new flavor into your foods.

Chilled beverages are a welcomed relief in the hot summer sun. Also consider making a batch of non-alcoholic grilled peach iced tea ahead of time to set out for guests to help themselves.

Grill It Up

Juicy burgers, steak, ribs, and crispy hot dogs are exactly what you think of when you hear the word BBQ. Prepare your meats the night before your event so they can fully marinate for optimum tenderness and taste. Here are a few recipes we recommend to throw on your Kenyon grill:

Burger Sliders

Grilled T-Bone Steaks

Baby Back Ribs

Stars, Stripes, & Side Dishes

To compliment the main food event, choose about 2-3 sides. If you were cooking up hamburgers and hot dogs the perfect additions to your feast would be corn on the cob  and grilled potato salad. Fresh or grilled veggies pair well with chicken and steak. To further help in your preparation details, ask guests to bring a side dish so you have more time to relax and enjoy the party.

Let’s Play

It’s always a good idea to have a variety of games on hand to entertain your guests throughout the day. Some favorite summertime activities for all ages are; horseshoes, badminton, ladder ball, and frisbee. If the conditions are right bring out some fun sparklers for everyone!

Sweet Land of Desserts

Let’s not forget about the sweets! Every savory meal needs a sweet note to balance out your taste buds. Summertime meals call for light and airy desserts such as fruits or puddings. Here are some grilled dessert ideas that are sure to be crowd pleasers:

Frontier IntelliKEN Touch Grill Review

Memorial Day kicked off the grilling season for many people, but Kenyon is ready to make the argument that you could be enjoying grilled meals year-round, regardless of weather. The company makes high quality electric grills, that can be used indoors — without the worry of smoke. Can electric really compete with charcoal, wood or gas? To find out, the company sent me their Frontier portable electric grill, equipped with new IntelliKEN Touch controls.

First Impressions

It’s immediately clear that the Kenyon Frontier is a premium product. It’s also clearly not meant as a high-end version of something like a George Foreman Grill, or the Cuisinart Griddler in my kitchen, despite all carrying the “electric grill” label. Those are mass produced multi-function kitchen appliances that are considerably smaller and aimed at pressing a sandwich or quickly cooking a steak.

The Frontier is a replacement for an outdoor gas, charcoal or wood grill. That’s a much more ambitious scope. It’s portable. It can be used on a countertop, although it takes up a fair bit of space (21 x 12-inches and over 7-inches tall with the lid), but it can also be used outdoors. It’s also beautifully designed and built to last, with rust-resistant marine grade stainless steel construction. And my review unit was equipped with the company’s IntelliKEN touch controls, which add a high-tech look.

grill couple

It doesn’t quite feel like summer until you’ve attended or thrown your first barbecue. It is an honor to be chosen to be the “Grill Master” of any social occasion, but you can put a lot of pressure on yourself not to disappoint everyone with your grilling skills or lack thereof. Becoming a grill master is like any other skill; you have to have the right tools, take the time to learn, take the time to do it correctly and finish it properly. Here are some tips to help you up your grilling game!

1) Preheating

This is a critical step for having a successful grilling session.  Preheat your grill with the lid closed for 5 to 9 minutes. This will allow the grill to reach the optimal cooking temperature.

2) Have The Right Tools

Every great chef is measured not only by the foods they make but also by the tools they use to make them. Always have a set of tongs or a spatula handy and be sure you are using a new set after touching raw meat. Bring home our finest collection of four grilling utensils.

tools

3) Add Flavor

Apply your rub or marinade in  advance for the yummiest meat. Rub or marinade should be applied to your food an hour before you’re ready to cook. Try out our recipe for Cherry Balsamic Sauce as a marinade!

4) When To Take Meat Out

Take your meat out of the refrigerator about 20 minutes before you start grilling. Cooking room temperatures steaks allow for a more even cook.

5) Only Flip Your Meat Once

Flipping your meat multiple times can cause it to lose its natural juices. Cook one side fully, then flip it over to the other side. Follow our recipe for the perfect burger and t-bone steak

6) Let It Sit

Get the juiciest cuts of meat by letting your meat sit for about 10 minutes before you cut it.

7) Perfect Your Veggies

Lightly toss veggies in olive oil before grilling to help prevent them from drying out. Try making classics like corn on the cob or asparagus

tomato

8) Toast Your Buns

This touch is what will set your grilling apart from the other grillers out there. The taste and the texture of buns are best when lightly toasted. Split the bun open, place it cut side down on the grill, and grill until light golden brown, about 30 seconds.

9) Keep It Clean

Always start off with a clean grilling surface. After you are done grilling clean the grate so you are all set the next time you grill. All you need is wet paper towels and a pair of tongs after grilling while the grill is still warm, simply wipe across the grilling surface with the paper towels and you will remove all of the remains. If you would rather get a deeper clean, you can remove your grate/griddle and place directly in the dishwasher.

10) Have Fun!

The top two reasons Americans love to grill (besides to make food), is for personal enjoyment and for entertaining family and friends. Make sure grilling doesn’t feeling like a chore and enjoy yourself. Put on some Jimmy Buffett, crack open a cold one, wear a Hawaiian shirt, and have fun!

About Kenyon

Kenyon began as a small manufacturer of aviation and marine instruments in 1931. As business developed, they led the way with the breakthrough development of ceramic glass cooktops for the high seas, becoming the standard for yachts around the world. The immense popularity of the cooktops led to a high-demand for shore-side models to be enjoyed in homes. From here, Kenyon began manufacturing smokeless and flameless electric grills that are safe for indoor grilling on boats, in RVs or right in your own kitchen.

Stacken cookware superb, top notch from all aspects !

I received the Stackens Cookware set on time and as promised, to my surprise/delight the quality exceeded my expectations and I use these everyday at home now. The removable handles are amazing when it comes to space saving and so simple to use. Heat retention amazing, we have always had an electric cooktop and these make it even easier to clean up. We often gather as a family of 18 and clean up is effortless. Thank you Kenyon !

Set the mood…

First you’ll want to set the tone with some music and light candles everywhere. Create a romantic dinner table for two and dust of your finest china, fancy napkins and long stem wine glasses. Add a classic rose center piece and sprinkle around fresh red rose petals on the table. Pour glasses of wine (not the cheap stuff, it’s Valentine’s Day!) for you and your loved one. Now its time to get grilling!

Starters

Nothing says love like a heart…of Romain lettuce! Start off your romantic dinner with some Grilled Romaine Salad with Ceasar Vinaigrette dressing. The lettuce core remains crunchy, the leaves become charred and the overall dish becomes delicately sweet.

The Main Course

Your main course should be something special that you might not make every night, we suggest Grilled Salmon, Baby Potatoes and Asparagus. Midway through the meal you may be thinking…is food my true love?

Dessert

Now it’s time for everyone’s favorite part of the meal…DESSERT! Grill up some Polenta with Strawberries and Mascarpone Whipped Cream, this will become a Valentine’s Day tradition for the two of you!

Christmas Eve - Polenta with Strawberries

After your spectacular homemade meal is over, snuggle up on the couch and binge watch to your favorite show and enjoy each others company.
